1. What required fees does an applicant need to shoulder?
Payments for his/her passport, NBI Clearance, birth certificate, trade test, medical certificate, immunization, etc. shall be shouldered by an applicant.
2. Are accommodations provided by employers to workers?
Some companies offer free accommodations to their workers. However, if accommodations are not included in the job offer, the company will help a worker find a room or a house he/she can rent in his/her country of destination.
3. How long is the contract for an overseas job?
The usual contract is for 24 months or 2 years. There are jobs that require one year, which are extendable for another year.
4. Is MOT registered with the DMW?
Yes. An applicant may check with the DMW website at dmw.gov.ph. Avoid falling victim to illegal recruiters. Always check if an agency has a license or is accredited with the DMW.
5. Is the job I am applying for legal or has a valid job order?
To check, an applicant can go to the DMW website at dmw.gov.ph.
6. Which countries do you send workers to?

8. Where are MOT’s offices located?
We are located in the city of Manila. Our offices are near the Paco Market and Puregold Paco. Our complete address is:

9. What is the interview process like?
Most of our interviews are done online, mostly by Zoom, and is done by the foreign employers. Face-to-face interviews may be made upon the request of an employer. There are instances when our staff may conduct initial interviews.
The basic salary of HSWs is around USD 400, but may vary depending on the country or employer. Salaries of skilled and professional workers depend on their employers as well. They are usually discussed during the interview of the workers by their employers.
11. Do overseas workers have days off?
The usual day off is once a week. There are countries, however, especially Middle East countries, where HSWs are not allowed days off.
12. Who do workers contact in case of problems encountered in the countries of destination?
The Philippine recruitment agency, such as MOT, and the foreign recruitment agency (FRA) are the ones tasked under the laws of the Philippines and the country of destination to look after the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).
13. Are workers allowed to change employers upon arrival in their countries of destination?
No. OFWs and their employers sign an employment contract. The contract does not allow a worker to change employers or work for another. Remember that the employment contract is the law between both contracting parties. A contract breach is not taken lightly and may have legal implications for the worker, which may, among others, result in his/her repatriation at his/her own expense.
14. Do I need to be vaccinated against Covid-19 if I want to work overseas?
Yes, vaccination is mandatory. At least one booster shot is also required.
15. What are some of the benefits of an OFW?
Some of the benefits of an OFW are payments for their insurance (2 years) , Pag-IBIG contributions (3 months), and OWWA membership (1 year).
16. Are OFWs allowed to go on a vacation during their contract period?
This depends on what are stipulated in their contracts. There are contracts that allow a worker to return to the country on vacation after 1 year. There are those that do not allow this.
17. Are OWWA language trainings for HSWs free of charge?
Yes, all language trainings conducted by OWWA for those applying for domestic work abroad are free of charge. Trainings are between 1 to 3 days, depending on the country of destination.
18. Is TESDA training for HSWs free?
Yes, it is free as well. A TESDA training usually lasts 3 days.
Yes, it is. A PDOS usually lasts for 4 hours.
An OEC or Overseas Employment Certificate is a clearance issued to Filipinos who are leaving the country for work overseas. The OEC is the last document that needs to be obtained immediately before leaving for one’s country of destination. It is the Philippine Recruitment Agency (PRA), such as the MOT, that secures this document for the worker.
